How To Host Madden 11 Tournaments

Madden NFL has a cult following throughout the globe. It has captured a big chunk of the football video games market. This EA Sports release is awaited eagerly by fans everywhere. Its popularity has encouraged its makers to simultaneously release an adaptation for all the gaming mediums like XBox, Nintendo, Playstation and the PC. Madden 11 tournaments are held all over and fans who take their gaming seriously, participate in large numbers. To host one of these events, these are some of the basics you should know.

Not all of these contests are played for reward money and monetary prizes. Some are held unofficially between friends, playing for fun. However, for tournaments and for contests held on television, the reward is substantially more. The top notch, experienced players take part in these and take game play seriously to win the top spot.

Any competition is credible only if fairness is assured in the proceedings and the selection of the winner. There is not a set a of standardized rules that have to be adhered to. However, most of these events follow more or less the same basic rules. If you are hosting a competition, ensure that it is fair and that all the players stick to the common rules. The host must provide the controller and console. The players are not allowed to bring hardware and this is to avoid any cases of tampering. If any evidence of tampering is brought to the host's notice, it has to be dealt with severely. It is likely that the player will get booted. All players must have similar controllers and consoles to ensure that they all start off on even footing. Referees have present in these competitions to ensure fairness and to supervise game play. They have a variety of roles. They oversee the play and also the conduct of the players. They also need to oversee player dress code.

The referee holds the power to rule on the appropriate moment to pause the play. They should have excellent technical knowledge to spot any tampering or attempts at tampering. Sometimes, the glitches in the game may give some players undue advantage over others. The referee should be able to recognize this and put a stop to this.

Other basics a host should be aware of are a zero tolerance policy is practiced with regard to abuse of referee. Be it verbal or physical abuse, the player has to be ousted to set an example for the other players. Also, no player should communicate with spectators while gaming. This is, again, to preempt any funny business. Headsets are not allowed. Damage of equipment also attracts penalty.

Any attempts to 'fix' the game are dealt with severely by expulsion. Madden 11 tournaments guidelines also depend on the kind of tournament it is. If it is a low profile unofficial game between friends or huge international events, and whether they are played live or online. The rules may also have other stipulations like difficulty, quarter period and speed of the game. Depending on the number of players, the duration of play can vary.

If EA Sports Calls, Don't Answer

Madden is one of the most look-forward-to releases on xbox and PS3 every year, and this year is no exception. The Madden football games took the nascent video game industry by storm, and haven't slowed down yet. It's right there for the annual NFL Draft, creating shots of players on their new teams almost instantly. The competetive side of the phenomenon has grown too, and now hundreds of pro Madden players make tons of money playing in tournaments. There is no other anuual release of any tyoe that demands the attention of Madden -- and the devotion, as bceomes clear when thousands of people take the day off work.

You might also think that players are honored and delighted to be featured on the game's cover. Since Madden gave up the game's cover appearance starting with the 1999 installment for a different annual cover athlete, that player has suffered from poor play or injury, leading to the belief that there is a Madden NFL curse.

Last year was no exception to the Madden curse, and it made it's mark in the very first week of the regular season. In 2009, there were two players on the cover for the first time in the franchise's history. Troy Polomalu was shown head-to-head with a man he covered in Super Bowl XLIII; Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals. In the Steelers' first game of the season against the Tennessee Titans, Polamalu suffered a medial collateral ligament sprain while blocking a field goal. The Steelers had to play the rest of the season without their star defensive player.

One would think that everyone in the league would have learned to avoid Madden by now. Players a) don't need the money and b) are quite superstitious in the best of times, so you'd think they'd just decline the offer from EA sports. If you don't believe in it yet, just take a look at all the historical evidence of a very real "Madden Curse.".

Some Hisrotical Examples:

2002: QB Daunte Culpepper was honored with a Madden 02 cover appearance folliowing his team's final four appearance in 2000. He followed this up by missing the last five games of the 2001 season with a hurt knee, and his team missed the playoffs.

2003: After gracing the cover of Madden 03, RB Marshall Faulk played the whole 2002 season with a hurt ankle and missed the 1,000 rushing yard mark for the first time in 6 years while his team rounded out the season with a 7-9 record, which wasn;t good enough for a playoff appearance.

2004: The Madden Curse struck for the third year in a row in 2003, when star QB Michael Vick missed the entire season due to a fractured fibula he got in a preseason game.

2006: Donovan McNabb was featured on the cover of Madden 06, and in week one of the 2005 season, you guessed it, Donovan McNabb suffered a hernia. It plagued ihim all season, and he eventually missed the last 7 games of the season.

That evidence is hard to refute. So, how will Drew Brees fare against the msyterious and enignmatic "Madden Curse?"
